Wow, what a wonderful week! It started off super great when we took the new hermanas out for power hour and found three new people to teach!! (They are Hna Jessop and Hindmarsh’s new trainees) One of the people we found was a huge miracle. She let us into her apartment, let us start teaching her, and then called us over to her kitchen. She had 2 Jesus pass along cards stuck to the front of her fridge! She has never actually met with missionaries before but I think she had been prepared for a long time. She had some injuries that left her with severe disabilities, so she said the missionaries could come at any time. The Spirit was so strong during the lesson, especially as we shared parts of the Plan of Salvation that had a huge impact on her because of the experiences she has gone through. We testified of God’s love and set up a return appointment! It was a great way to end my short but amazing time with Hermana Jessop and Hermana Hindmarsh.
Then I got to come back to Portland! Hna Capron is awesome and we have been getting along very well. I think she is a very sweet and obedient missionary, which I really appreciate. We are doing great things and teaching really well together! I am so excited to be back in Alameda! It’s great to already have member trust! And both of us in the companionship are striving to be really obedient and follow the Spirit, which has led us to a lot of miracles this week. One miracle was when we were walking on Friday, we both decided to stop and talk to a Hispanic man at a bus stop. His name is Andres, and he told us that we were like two angels coming to visit him! He has just moved into the area and wanted to find a church to attend!
We also had a great member referral lesson on Friday with a lady named Romy, and her husband Leonardo was super interested and became someone we are teaching as well! Another great miracle was a lesson with Leticia, a woman who was so open and interested that we ended up teaching her the whole Restoration and Gospel of Jesus Christ in the first lesson.
We had one more awesome miracle last night as well. We got member money for dinner, so we decided to go to Cartlandia, which is this giant food cart place. While we were sitting and waiting for our food, we struck up a conversation with a lady named Anne. She is so cool! She had so many good questions related to all of the first three lessons, and we ended up teaching her all of the first one and most of the second one in about 15 minutes! She also asked us if we have the power to heal in our church so of course we asked if she would like to receive a blessing. The only small downside is she lives right outside our mission, but we are going to have a handoff lesson with her on Thursday after she gets a blessing! She is downright amazing and wants to learn so much. I have no doubt that she is going to get baptized and become an awesome member.
Wow, sorry for the long email! It’s just been such a great week (even though I had my first time riding the bus in Portland!). I love missionary work and continually being blessed to see the Lord’s hand in it. I am looking forward to a great transfer full of hard work. Have a great week and an amazing 4th of July!!
